Used WWT and CW Containers
Used WWT and CW containers are usually between 13-18 years old and have been used for cargo transportation around the world before finally making their way to a depot where wholesalers store them to be resold for storage.
They vary in condition greatly and since the Covid pandemic that disrupted manufacturing in Asia, they have been especially rough lately since the leasing companies are extending their use of these for cargo for longer than they used to before selling them off to wholesalers. So if you got a really nice used container 10 years ago and you're expecting the same quality, you're not guaranteed to get that anymore.
That being said, the driver will inspect it thoroughly to make sure it is not leaking, there are no holes, the doors open and close, and the door seals don't show any light from outside. They are still a good option for storage on a tighter budget, they are just not nice to look at and colors vary.
Used 40s can come in either standard (STD) or high cube (HC) options. A HC is 9'6" high on the outside and a STD is 8'6" high on the outside. Used 20s are only available in the STD height option.
New "One Trip" Containers
New and "One Trip" might be used interchangeably, but all "new" containers are single-use in the US. Many are manufactured specifically for storage purposes, shipped with cargo to the US, and trucked to the nearest storage depot where the container owners put them up for wholesale. These are the highest quality containers you can get and usually cost from $1200 to $2000 more than their used counterparts.
Damage on a One Trip container will be no more than some dents from transportation, dents and scratches from cargo loading/unloading, and scratches or scuffs on the exterior or floors. An excessively damaged One Trip is placed in a separate category and would be available at a discounted rate, depending on how bad it is.
One Trip containers are available in different colors, but most in the United States are RAL 1015 "Light Ivory" Color, as can be seen in the picture examples on the Services page. Some call them "Beige", but the RAL 1015 is the official color code. Other colors can be found, but it can take time to get something specific, and it might cost more to reserve a specific color from the supplier. We had a customer order several of a certain color when they were plentiful, and then they had to wait almost 5 months for an additional container they wanted months later because the supply ran out and we had to wait for a supplier to ship one from overseas.
One Trip contains are still distributed at the depots by giving the top box off the stack, and the driver has discretion to make sure it is up to One Trip standards.
Specialty Containers
Several specialty containers are available only in the "One Trip" condition:
20' high cube (the rarest specialty container)
40' with swing doors on both long ends
20' with swing doors on both long ends
40' with 4 swing side doors on one side
40' with 2 swing side doors on one side
20' full open side with folding doors that expose one entire side
40' full open side
All specialty containers still include at least one swing door on one end like the standard boxes.
Because of the lower supply of these types of boxes, wholesale prices can fluctuate throughout the year and the open-side and side-door boxes are especially expensive. Not all depots carry all of these types either so transportation costs can be higher as well. Do not fall for online scams selling specialty boxes for really cheap prices. Warthog Transport is committed to providing fair and competitive pricing and honest transactions.
